Today we're going to chat about all things skin care during pregnancy and postpartum. I sit her 23 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child and for the first time this pregnancy I feel like my skin finally looks good! Hallelujah. It's been a rocky road this time around. During my first pregnancy I really didn't do anything special to care for my hormonal skin (same goes for postpartum too). I reached a point after having my first child that I noticed my skin was super dry, I was getting wrinkles around my eyes and my skin just looked extra dull. I knew I had to do something about it! Soon after that - I stepped up my skin care game by adding some more Beauty Counter products to my collection and that's really when my skin made a big turn around. It's still a work in progress but it is slowly and surely recovering from the lack of care I gave it for about 1.5 years. I wish I had a before and after picture to share but I don't! But, I'm going to share a little about my journey to happier healthier skin for you so that you can avoid the mistakes I made!
So, as I began to realize my skin really need a little help - I started my slow growing collection of Beauty Counter products. Of course, my first thought was "OMG I have to cover up all of these blemishes and give myself some color" Which is not totally wrong! But, a little backwards way to go at it. My first purchase was the Beauty Counter Flawless In Five (6 products to help you get a full face of makeup on in 5 minutes) - It was a serious life saver for a new mom, it really helped me cover up some blemishes + add life back to my skin AND it made putting on makeup FUN again. It's my go to recommendation for new moms!
Next I started adding in some better skin care products. I used and still use a mix and matched regimen of different products but I've started to narrow down the best ones for my skin and I've really started to notice a difference. My first few purchases were from the Countermatch collection (for normal skin) these were so helpful in giving new life back to my skin and it was a great place to start and help my skin rebound from everything it had been through.
Then I became pregnant again and my skin went a little crazy (most moms know what I mean) I couldn't pin point what I needed - I was having breakouts, my skin was a little oily and then it became really dry. I was so thrown off that I had to take a step back, try a few new products, and really start back over.
www.beautycounter.com/ameliahamilton?goto=/product/counter-plus-lotus-glow-cleansing-balmThe products that I use now have been a game changer at getting my skin back to feeling "like me" but even better! I'm going to share a little bit about what I do each day to keep my face feeling good!
Morning: I wash with CounterMatch foaming cleanser, followed up by CounterTime Hydrating Essence, All Bright C-Serum and CounterMatch Adaptive Moisture Lotion. I think/know the C-Serum is what really made the biggest change in my skin. I was having tons of breakouts (that I picked at) which caused red/dark spots all over my face and the C-Serum has almost completely gotten rid of them in only a few months. Miracle product!
Night: I wash again with the CounterMatch foaming cleanser, CounterTime Hydrating Essence, CounterTime Supreme Cream, and then Lip Conditioner in Peppermint. The Supreme Cream has been another product that has helped recover my dull/dry skin and has visibly reduced my wrinkles that were starting to appear around my eyes. Another product that I will forever use.
As Needed: These are some products that I use on occasion depending on what my skin needs. Overnight Resurfacing Peel (1x a week), Charcoal Face Mask (1x a week), Brightening Oil (2-3x a week), CounterControl SOS Acne Spot Treatment, and the Lotus Glow Cleansing Balm (I love this one because it's a super hydrating face wash OR an overnight face mask when you're feeling extra dry)
I hope this helps anyone who might be going through the same thing! Skin is always changing and hormones can really throw your skin out of whack. If you'd like some help narrowing down what products would help your skin - Feel free to comment below to get in touch! I am happy to help!
Today I'm hopping on here to share about an awesome double offer that Beauty Counter is having on their regimens for the next few days (ends Sat. 2/29) For a long time I didn't have a skincare routine - I would use random products that I had in my bathroom (probably expired) but I figured if I was washing my face and keeping moisturized then I was doing something right...turns out I was a little wrong! After trying Beauty Counter and slowly adding to my collection I realized how important a solid regimen is for your skin! Right now I have a few different products from different regimen sets that I love but I am slowly making my way into the CounterTime line that will help fight wrinkles and give my skin more nourishment and antioxidants. If you are curious about what products I currently use just comment below and we can chat it up. But in short, I use CounterMatch (lotion), CounterTime (essence), CounterControl (clear pore cleanser), Resurfacing peel, and Flawless In 5.
